Feather Fetish

I am having a serious growing obsession with feathers at the moment. As I have said before I love the boho look. It's probably the style that I am as closely related to and identify to.

I have always loved that hippy style matching feathers with angel wings and things like homemade friendship bracelets made from coloured strings and hemp rope. All things natural and very relaxed.

Since this year's "Festival Fashion" contained so many feather pieces I have been sure to stock up like crazy while they were available, buying items such as headbands and different jewellery pieces. I even bought one necklace in Penneys with the intent to make something different, special and entirely unique from it with a little customization. I am truly obsessed with the feather hair extensions and have been searching the Internet for months for the perfect set. If you've got a serious case of feather fetish like I do check out the unbelievably stunning Castaway photo shoot over at Spell and the Gypsy. I look through this blog for simple inspiration and I love the feeling of being free that is depicted from their photos. I find it very peaceful.

I'll keep you up to day with my feather fetish and show you my creations once finished. Are feathers something that tickle your fancy? (Sorry that was bad, but I couldn't resist)

The Calm after the storm

Last Monday in Ireland we had a ridiculously bad rain storm. A months worth or rain fell in 24 hours. Traffic  was effected when rivers burst their banks and roads were completely flooded. Even Dundrum shopping centre had to close early when water started flowing in the front doors.

So after a crazy amount of time being stuck in the house, unable to even step outside, I took my stir crazy child and dog for a walk to burn off the excess energy. The fields behind my house are a total escape from city life. Being a country girl and having grown up around horses and open land I relish the fact that I can go here to unwind. The fields at the moment are home to some lovely friendly horses which Amina just adores. We brought over some carrots so Amina could give them a little treat.

The fields were flooded in parts which looked so beautiful against the setting sun.

After our trek through the fields munching on blackberries and jumping in muddy puddles

we stopped off at the pond to see if the ducks were home. The setting sun reflecting on the water was so peaceful and the still water made a stark contrast with the insane weather we had the day before.

The ducks weren't home but the swans came over to say hello.

Tragically an off duty garda was killed as a result of the flooding after being swept away while trying to come to the aid of a motorist. It's times like these you really appreciate the small things in life and those little moments spent doing what truly makes you happy, like the special time with your family enjoying what nature has to offer. RIP Garda Jones
What are the moments in time that allow you to reflect on what's important? Anyone else country girls living in the big city, dying to escape?

Foot Kandee

I first came across Kandee shoes on Syrious' blog at the beginning of the year and since then I have kept a very sharp eye on their website. The shoes are divine, everything about them from their platform to their killer heel to their radical designs, all inspired by the designer's love of candy.

Little did I know they were a celebrity cult favourite with people like Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria and Cheryl Cole all spotted rocking the brand. Despite the celeb following designer, 21 year old, Josh Wayman is keen to keep the ethos of High Fashion meets High Street. (Don't you just love that)

They had an up to 60% off sale to commemorate their store opening in New York City at the beginning of the summer. A Whopping 60% off is what all us fashionistas on a budget dream of seeing but unfortunately I was unable to purchase the divine shoes that I fell in love with due to severe lack of funds and any spare dimes being spent on my trip to Barca.

Well I have loved and lost on that pair but their whole new range of Autumn Winter Stock has hit the website for Pre Order. Woohoo. Some daily foot kandee to drool over and even better check out their Facebook and Twitter pages for daily updates and little teasers of their fantabulous Autumn Winter Collection.

My lust factor is in MAYJAH overdrive at the moment with these few beauties
After 8

Diamonds by Kandee

And the Oh So Gorgeous Lemonade

Kandee for the feet, shoe porn whatever you want to call them at the end of the day I want them, I need them, I HAVE TO HAVE THEM!!!......
I swear, from today I am putting 20 euro aside every week until I can buy these bad boys.

Anyone else out there have a sweet tooth for Kandee?

Through Rose Coloured Glasses

So to ease myself slowly back in to the blogging world, a nice and simple post of appreciation for true love and beauty.
You may have seen these photos that surfaced last week of the oh so stunning Miranda Kerr in the new ad campaign for Rag & Bone. Amongst other models such as Lily Aldridge, Karolina Kurkova and Carolyn Murphy the project involved giving the models a bag of clothing and a camera to take the pictures themselves.
The photos taken by husband Orlando Bloom and friend and fellow Angel Lily Aldridge show a really fresh and unique take in Print Advertising. I just had to do a post on the beautiful pictures which are a result of this Rag & Bone DIY project.

I love these pictures. They're not your typical posed, over airbrushed and almost mannequin like posters. And these photos of Ms. Kerr are so beautiful. They're honest, real and you can sense the true love which is communicated down the camera lens towards the photographer. Definitely not a case of love and beauty through Rose coloured glasses.
Have you seen these pictures? Do you love the idea as much as I do? If you haven't seen the posters yet check out the Vogue Article and the Rag & Bone Website

I'm Back

If you are a regular visitor to my blog or you have just happened to fall upon it recently you will have noticed it has been quite a while since I updated my posts. I went through a rough couple of months and I decided that with the blog I would take a break. I left the door open, so to speak, to return once things got a little better for me which is where I am at now.
SO

I lost perspective for a while on what was important in life and what was not. I was questioning myself on who I was and where I was going. I spent so much time sitting at the computer blogging or reasearching things for the blog that I found although I was in the room with my daughter I was not fully present. I found this very upsetting once I realised it and it definitely was not fair on her.

So I took some time off. I spent quality time with my daughter. I spent time with my cousins and travelled home to Cork on quite a few occasions spending time with my friends that have been there for me since... forever. But being truthful I found myself dreaming of fashion, thinking about the blog and getting excited about up and coming trends and the autumn winter drops on the highstreet and this is when I remembered why I started the blog in the first place. FOR THE LOVE OF FASHION
I also got a lovely message from a fellow blogger which cemented my decision to return. So thank you...

So, I am back and with a new look. From day one I had always wanted to change up my header and the previous one had only ever been a temporary one. I made this header with pictures I found on Pinterest and had it sitting on my desktop since May but couldn't quite figure out how to adjust it specifically to fit the blog. I have finally worked it out. YAY! I hope to eventually fill in the pictures with my own personal pictures but until then this will fit the bill nicely. I have decided also to take it a little easier with the blog and to not put so much pressure on myself. I have scheduled time in my day to do posts and spend the rest of my day doing fun things with my daughter aswell as ensuring the dreaded housework gets completed. I hope you are all keeping well and I look forward to resuming blogging and chatting to all of you.
