Trend for the week

So my trend for the week is Urban Sport/Utility. This trend is a standalone trend however if you want to really pick it apart and work it all out then it can be divided into Urban as the first trend, Sport as the second and Utility.

Urban is fairly self explanatory it's casual, loose clothing, hareem trousers and loose silky materials, a hood every now and again, without the adidas stripes and the Asbo, you know when you were a kid and you wanted to be like someone because the were cool, well Urban is cool. Think All Saints Cool.

For Sport think varsity jackets, track shorts and stripes, which is a major side trend/style to wear this season. The clothing would be reminiscant of tennis wear, golf wear and well, track wear, less the balls and sweat. Uber Stylish of course.
Utility is like mititary but slightly sofer, think Cargo pants like my MUST HAVE. Basically Khaki and beige. What you'd wear on Safari for example. This trend has been around for a couple of seasons. It may not have been as big on the runways, however the Celebs are still wearing it and the high street still stocking it. This trend will fall in beside the festival wear as The Cargo jacket is a MUST HAVE* both for this trend and for festivals (in Ireland anyway)
On the runways it was featured quite alot in New York, the trend would be quite reminiscant of the urban and street style in America without being too grungy

Here are some exaples of Runway shows which featured this trend

And who was my favourite from this trend, the one and only Isabel Marant. This woman is AMAZING. I have love everything that she has put down the runway to date. Everybody wears her clothes and she has gained almost cult iconic status. Here's some of the garments from her Spring Summer 2011 collection

And look who is the Face of the Advertising Campaign, jealous much??

So what do you think? Is this a trend that stands out for you? Will you rock the Sports wear for everyday? Do you J'Adore Isabel Marant as much as I do?

Trend for the week

My second trend that I am going to talk about is Mens Wear. This trend has been around forever and isn't going anywhere.

Marlene Dietrich in 1933

Every now and again it pops up and reveals itself in a whole new, modern and current way. It's all about clean cut lines, sharp fabrics and oversizing. Think your mans outfit on a sunday but for the whole week if your wanting it. Its Androgynous, it's crossing the lines between feminism and masculinity. Basically it's shopping both  the mens section and the women's section in your favourite store. The trend has been very popular recently since a new and fabulous androgynous model, Adrej Pejic, emerged. Andrej a 19 year old Serbian Australian model has leaped in to the spotlight as the new "IT Boy". With Long, blonde hair and feminine features he is really what the menswear trend is all about, metro sexuality.

The runways from Paris to New York to London have all shown their fair share of this fashion trend for Spring 2011.

My Favourite from this strend is Helmut Lang's collection. The lines, the draping, the fabrics and the muted tones all scream femininity but the tailoring and the cuts are done with the precision of a men's collection. There is the perfect mix of workwear, casual wear and dresses to make this an all round versatile collection of pieces that can be mixed and matched and worn together or apart. Definitely one of my favourite collections of this season. Check out Helmut Lang's website for his journal stlye of documenting his work.

So what do ya'll think of this trend? Will you be rocking your man's white shirt this summer?

Coachella

Following on from my MUST HAVE post I want to keep with the theme of festivals and talk a little about Coachella the festival held last weekend in California. Firstly I so want to go....

Second, have you seen the clothes? OMG!!! I am not a festival type of girl at all but I would actually seriously go if it meant purchasing a festival wardrobe alone. The line up this year was fairly amazing which is why the lineup of celebrities that flocked there was fairly impressive.

Usher

Rihanna

Alexa Chung

Camilla Belle

Nicole Richie

Katie Perry
Kate Bosworth

Kristen Cavallari

Whitney Port

Vanessa Hudgens

Penn Badgley

Hilton Sisters

The music lineup wasn't bad either with acts from Cee Lo Green, Kings of Leon, Marina and the Diamonds,Ms. Lauren Hill, Mumford & Sons, Ras G, Erykah Badu, Eliza Doolittle, Ellie Goulding, Nas & Damian Marley, Kanye West, Plan B, Wiz Khalifa,The Strokes and Tinie Tempah to name but a few.

Kanye West performing at Coachella

Not sure about Kanye West's Celine blouse even if he was voted Best Dressed. It's growing on me though. Every time I see it I hate it on him a little less. Fabulous blouse, just not for a guy.

but according to critics he "blew the door off"
"West delivered a grandiose, theatrical performance destined to be remembered as one of the great hip-hop sets of all time," writes Jeff Miller in The Hollywood Reporter of West, who started just 15 minutes late, and landed on stage via a crane. I'm Saving for next year...
What do you think of Kanye's Blouse, hit or miss? Would ya'll like to head to Coachella?
