Job Opening or Has it Already been filled?

All of us heard about the infamous meltdown of John Galliano, chief of not only his own Label but also the AMAZING Christian Dior haute couture fashion house.

Dior fired Galliano earlier this year when a video emerged of him making drunken, anti semitic comments in a bar in france last December, which he will face trial for on June 22nd. Two days before the Oscars and four days ahead of Paris fashion week, Dior announced the suspension and then later their decision to terminate his contract. Dior's dresses have now been completely stigmatized on the red carpet, even Kate Moss has reportedly changed her mind after deciding on a Galliano wedding dress. But who will take over as head designer for one of the world's best fashion houses.

Rumour has it that Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy is the frontman for the job to take the helm at this critical time for the French fashion house. He has supposedly been telling his close friends and acquaintences that he is to be taking over, however the announcement won't be made until September. Fueling the rumours even more is the fact that on red carpets everywhere Tisci's designs are appearing. From last week in Cannes with Naomi Campbell and Courtney Love sporting the designer's dresses.

Penelope Cruz rocked a Tisci dress on the Red Carpet for the Pirates of the Caribbean, On Stranger Tides premiere in London last week
Beyonce is also wearing a Givenchy Couture for her latest video, Run the World, which was released during the week (love by the way)

Liv Tyler, the Face of Givenchy and Mary - Kate Olsen have also wore the designs, to the Met Ball a few weeks ago.

And I know ya'll saw Cate Blanchett's Givenchy gown on the Red Carpet at the Oscars, which I'm still trying to figure out. I swear I don't know if I think it's genious or hideous. I do know however that it was a hot topic and amongst major debates through the print and blogging/online world.

Natalie Portmam who is the face of Dior's fragrace Miss Dior and the first celebrity to speak out about Galliano's indescretions saying in a statement “I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.” She was also spotted in a Tisci creation in February to the 26th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards.

This is definitely a bit of news to keep on top of. It will be truly interesting to see if the rumour pans out and becomes a reality as Riccardo Tisci's designs will take Dior in a very different direction, and giving the negative assocaition the Dior has had to deal with, the celebrities supposting Tisci will only be a positive thing and hopefully reinforce the good reputation of Christian Dior through this positive P.R.

And the ultimate seal of approval has come from "The Man" himself, Mr. Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel's creative director, who told W Magazine " Well I'm not a consultant there, but I think Riccardo Tisci would be good, and then Haider Ackermann at Givenchy - not because they are friends of mine, but because they are good." Stay Tuned and lets hope that the change will bring about Uber Glamour and more divine designs for us all to drool over.

  4. you never know what is going on in people's heads. Between their thoughts and privated opinions. Alcohol them lets people mouths loose and thoughts turn to actions. It's sad! xx
